Have you ever wondered why we can spend so much time worrying, procrastinating about things, then suddenly inspiration can hit and before you know it the job is done, all that fear, worry and anxiety for nothing. Perhaps it's time to find the courage to just do it, feel the fear work through it and begin to live life joyfully. Sounds so simple, I wonder why we can have these thoughts and then feel the determination, and yet so often we fall back into those old habits. Perhaps next time I'll do better.

  1. I think sometimes it's easier when you have people around you to encourage you and help you. It must be hard to do it all on your own. But I do know, from my own personal experience, that once you start you tend to be inspired to keep at it.
keep knitting, keep painting - the more productive you are, the better you feel about yourself :)

  3. I have a theory that the fear and procrastination is the driving force behind my motivation. I know it sounds like an excuse, but it needs to build up until the pressure is almost too much, and THEN I think 'It can't get any worse than this!' and I just do it.

If motivation really was as simple as just doing it, then where would you find the release, the feeling of relief at having finally done it? It's the difference between shifting your furniture around or shifting someone else's furniture around. You don't tend to look around someone else's room and thing 'I finally got this off my shoulders. Thank goodness for that!'.

Having said that, there is a fine line between motivation and crippling fear, and sometimes I stray too far over that line and it all becomes too much. That's when you need to call in the tough guys (aka your family!) to come and sort things out and bring everything back under control ;-)

Love you, Dineke. No matter how much you procrastinate!!
